A unique combination of crystal clear waters beside tranquil Caribbean beaches; an old city with its castles, pebble streets and history; a dreamy island atmosphere; beautiful stores, and a Latin kind of mood is what you’ll find in San Juan, Puerto Rico –a lively and sophisticated city that should be part of your list when planning your summer vacation!
Located between Dominican Republic and the British Virgin Islands, San Juan is actually a very unique place. It’s an old historical city –the oldest in United States territory– that is part of an American island, but is completely Latin when it comes to language, food and personality…
We loved the colors that adorn some of San Juan’s typical landscapes. You can find a strong contrast of deep blue waters with cliff rocks, beautiful green tree leaves on top of those cliffs, and old castles from which you can capture wonderful and unforgettable views.
And then there’s the magic of Old San Juan. There you can stroll along beautiful pebble streets, discovering colorful houses and stores, picturesque squares and little restaurant terraces. The sounds of guitars and the voices of men singing romantic Spanish boleros liven up the streets. You’ll also run into colorful businesses like women selling balloons or men selling ice cream, all amidst the historical atmosphere that constantly reminds you that you’re in a special place.
San Juan is a perfect summer destination: you have some of the most crowded –but nice– beaches right in San Juan, or you can explore a little bit more and discover quiet, lonely pieces of paradise along the coast. To name a few, Pine Grove Beach, Ocean Park Beach and Luquillo Beach are great options.
While being in San Juan, you also have to visit San Felipe del Morro Castle, San Cristobal Castle, San Juan’s Cathedral, as well as walk Old San Juan’s streets. There you can try Mofongo, a traditional and delicious Puerto Rican dish. Mofongo is a fried-plantain base, mixed with different foods such as shrimp, beef, chicken, vegetables…
And, of course, there are gorgeous stores both in Old San Juan and in more modern areas of the city. You can’t miss visiting our beautiful OndadeMar store in Plaza de las Américas (store 552), where you’ll find our latest swimwear and resort wear looks!
Enjoy San Juan!
