Our August destination: magical Cartagena!

We’re happy to start August thinking about traveling to one of the most magical, beautiful and romantic cities in the Caribbean, and one of Colombia’s top destinations: Cartagena!

Located on the northern coast of Colombia, Cartagena is a unique city that combines a nostalgic touch of history with the joyful mood of the Caribbean –and the kindness of Colombian people.

Our number one recommendation is to visit the Walled City and stroll around its pebbled streets: you’ll be able to admire the beauty and sophistication of the boutique hotels and the colorful houses’ architecture (including the house of Colombian Nobel Prize Gabriel García Márquez). Also, try the most delicious and gourmet restaurants; and shop the most beautiful and exclusive stores.

The Walled City is also full of Colombian artisans that display their beautiful and unique handmade work on the sidewalks and the squares. There you will also find typical Colombian music interpreters like “papayeras”, which are “vallenato” groups that will play their songs to create the perfect dinner atmosphere.

There are also many different bars and clubs at Cartagena’s Walled City. You can’t miss the Colombian version of Café del Mar, a unique and romantic place over the wall. It’s perfect for watching the sunset in front of the sea, while drinking some delicious and refreshing cocktails.

If you want to know more about Cartagena, the Castillo San Felipe de Barajas is a historical site that you might want to check out!

Apart from the Walled City, there are two other nice areas of Cartagena where you’ll find many hotels, beaches and restaurants:

The west part: El Laguito, Bocagrande, San Martin Avenue...

The north part: this is the city’s newest area, where many hotels are being built.

The beaches in the north part of the city are cleaner and not as crowded as the ones in the west. But if you want a beach plan, our recommendation is definitely to make a day trip to Rosario Islands, Baru or Playa Blanca, where you’ll find gorgeous beaches with white sands and crystal clear waters. Just go to the port and book your trip! But you can make a day trip to Rosario Islands, Baru or Playa Blanca, where you’ll find gorgeous beaches with white sands and crystal clear waters. Finally, we’ll be waiting for you to visit our beautiful stores in Cartagena, located in places like Plaza Santa Teresa (Walled City), San Martin Avenue, Hotel Santa Clara (Walled City), Plaza El Castillo, and Hotel Las Americas.
