San Sebastián is a must-visit city during summer vacation in Spain. The bay of La Concha’s beauty combined with the most famous, delicious “tapas” and “pintxos” makes San Sebastián one of the most beautiful cities on earth.

Located in the Basque Autonomous Community, northeast of Spain and really close to the French border, San Sebastián is one of the most visited cities in Spain. It’s a famous European destination for people who love good food, bars and the beach.

You’ve probably seen a post card with the bay of La Concha’s gorgeous view, but it’s even more beautiful when you’re there. Our recommendation is to walk along the whole bay and then take the funicular to “Monte Igeldo”, from where you’ll have the most beautiful and perfect view of La Concha bay and beach. It’s the perfect spot for taking pictures!

After you’ve seen the view you can go back to enjoy La Concha beach for a while. Then, you can take walks through the Old Town, where you can visit San Sebastián’s Cathedral and admire the city’s wonderful architecture.  You don’t want to miss “Monte Urgull”, where you will also have a gorgeous view of both the city and the ocean.

And then comes the best part of the trip: the food! San Sebastián’s “tapas” and “pintxos” are the most famous, gourmet and delicious in Spain. There’s a whole bar-hopping plan that you can start at 6 or 7pm, in which you’ll visit many places, try the tastiest Spanish flavors and have a few drinks.

These are some of the best “pintxos” places to visit in San Sebastián: Bar San Marcial, Txepetxa, Bar La Espiga, Bar Zeruco, Borda Berri, Rojo y Negro, La Cuchara de San Telmo, A Fuego Negro and Atari Gastroteka.

You can’t leave San Sebastián without trying one of the coastal town’s locally-produced and typical beverages: cider, a seasonal apple beverage produced by traditional methods.

Finally, we have to say September is a great time to visit this northern Spain city because you’ll enjoy all of the above, plus the famous San Sebastián International Film Festival!
